What to do if you get injured

  • What to do if you get injured-stay S.A.F.E.

         Speak out
    • Let your Licensed Athletic Trainer, Coach, or Parent know as soon as you don’t feel right. The quicker you come to someone with a possible injury, the quicker you can get back to playing at 100%. If you try to hide an injury, it can become severe enough that it keeps from playing a lot longer.

      Assess

    • Get your injury assessed by the licensed athletic trainer to see if further medical attention is needed. If medical attention is needed, your athletic trainer can work with the volunteer team physician or your primary care physician to get you in as quickly as possible

      Focus

    • Take this time to focus on getting better. Your sports medicine team will work with you to do what is needed to ensure you return at 100% of your athletic potential but your cooperation is a large part of that.

      Ease

    • Once you are able to participate in sports again, don’t jump right into where you were. Ease yourself back into full participation. Your athletic trainer will work with you and your coach to return you to full participation. Hang in there. You are almost back to the star you were.
