ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is a program designed specifically to improve the language proficiency of students whose native language is not English. In addition to receiving academic instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening; the program strives to develop an appreciation of diverse cultures and languages.

ESOL  students  known as ELLs (English Language Learners)receive their language arts instruction from ESOL certified teachers.  In addition, bilingual assistants are assigned to schools where the population of a language exceeds fifteen. The bilingual assistants help students with academic instruction and provide assistance to families with translations and home/school communications.

Our Department in Duval County includes the following programs: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Dual Language, World Language Programs and the Center for Language and Culture (CLC).
