• As Principal of Alfred I. duPont Middle School, I want to take this opportunity to share my excitement as we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year. I want to thank the entire Dragon Nation for continuing to strive for excellence through hard work, dedication, and teamwork. We are very proud of the efforts of our students on the most recent FSA assessment. Our school increased by 32% overall. We showed marked improvement in Biology (+14%), Math Learning Gains (+10%), Math Lowest Performing Quartile Learning Gains (+10%), Civics (+5%) and Science (+8%)!! I am confident that our Dragon Superheroes will raise the bar even higher this year!!!

I am pleased to announce that our school will be moving to an A/B day scheduling configuration where students will attend four 90-minute classes per day. Students will be enrolled in eight total classes including core classes, electives, Intensive Reading*, Intensive Math*, and PE/Health. In other exciting news, all sixth grade students will be enrolled in our new Transition to Middle School course which will help them to develop organizational, social, and critical thinking skills which will help lay the foundation for success during their middle school years. We will continue offering Pre-Early College, Biology, Algebra I, and Geometry high school acceleration courses. We will also offer Art, Global Scholars, French, and Spanish this year. We are expanding our music course offerings to include an instrumental and vocal program, so please be sure to speak to our Music Director, Mr. Mitchell during orientation.

In addition to our academic programs, students may try out for football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball, track, swimming, and cheerleading. We will continue with our Before School Enrichment Program which is available Monday through Friday from 7:30am –9:00am for a small fee of $65.00 per month.
