Safety Procedures

People Linking Hands stating School Safety
  • Arriving at School

Hogan-Spring Glen students should arrive at school at 8 a.m.  THERE IS NO ADULT SUPERVISION BEFORE 8:00 AM.

    • Pre-Kindergarten student intake will occur in the front car loop. Those students will be escorted to assigned classes by safety patrols.
    • All students will enter the building via the side door until 8:30. After 8:30 all, students enter via the main office (front of school).
    • Students arriving after 8:30 will need to get a tardy slip from the main office.
    • Bicycles must be parked in our student bike rack and locked.

Upon entering the school premises from Beach Boulevard, all student “drop-off” traffic remains on the right side of the cones.  Please drop the student off in the car rider zone. If you need to enter the building, please park in an available parking space.

    Dismissing from School

Students will not be dismissed from the office after 2:15 p.m. Per FL Statue 10001.24-no student checkout within the last 45 minutes of the school.

    VPK Student Dismissal

    • VPK students will be dismissed at 2:15 in front of the school. Parents must remain in their cars, and students will be brought to them by a staff member.
    • If you have older children to pick up, you will have to exit the VPK loading Zone and reenter the Car Rider pickup line.

    Automobile Pick-Up

    • You CANNOT park and walk up to the loading zone to get your student. No student will be released in the car rider area to anyone walking up.
    • Cars are NOT to use the bus loop directly off Beach Blvd. The Hogan-Spring Glen staff will assist your student(s).
    • Once your child is safely in your vehicle, please remain stopped until a staff member permits you to proceed to the exit.

    Bus Riders/Day Care Riders

    • Buses will arrive at Hogan-Spring Glen at 2:45 pm in front of the school.

    Walkers

    • Walkers will be dismissed from the front at 3:00 pm. All people who are picking up walkers are to wait in the front area opposite the school. No one is allowed to park in the car loop or block the service road.

All students should be picked up by 3:00 PM. Any students not picked up by 3:00 pm will be brought to the main office to call parents. The first late pick-up will be a verbal warning. The 2nd late pick-up will be a written notice. On the 3rd late pick-up, parents will be submitted to the Truancy officer.

    End-of-Day Changes

Please call the office by 2:15 pm if after-school pick-up/bus plans need to change. Teachers may not check their voicemails after lunch and cannot relay those messages directly to the student. Please call the office as early as possible. Secretaries do not have time after 2:15 pm to relay messages and ensure that students know last-minute changes in their routines.

    Legal Custody of Students

A legal document is required to support any questions of custody between divorced or separated parents. Unless the principal is informed and written, legal documentation is on file with the school. Either biological parent is considered to have the legal right to request early dismissal of their son or daughter.

    Safety Drills

Monthly drills are held during the school year to teach students the disciplined behavior necessary in emergencies. During these drills, students and staff will practice the routine procedures to be followed in case of an emergency.
