They have performed for live television specials, including the World Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on the Golf Channel and the annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony at the Jacksonville Landing. In April, 2002, Concert Chorale was the feature choir with the Jacksonville Symphony in a performance of J. S. Bach’s Easter Oratorio. Upon invitation the Department embarked upon a performance tour of Austria in the spring of 2004. Students performed in concert at the Dom in Salzburg, Melk Abbey, and St. Stephen’s Dome and the Karlskirche in Vienna. A highlight in the fall of 2004 was the selection of our Chorale Women to be the opening choir for the Florida Chapter of the American Chorale Directors’ Association.

Master classes have been given by Dr. Jerrold Pope from Florida State University, Dr. John Sinclair from Rollins College, and Dr. Duncan Couch from Stetson University.

DA’s Vocal Department provides the foundation needed for many graduates to pursue degrees in music at major universities throughout the country. All Vocal majors graduate with experiences that provide a lasting appreciation and awareness of the beauty and discipline within the vocal art form.
